West Kokshaal-Too is one of most southern and highest range among Kyrgyz mountain ranges. Three latitudinal ranges Terskey-Ala-Too, Jetym and Borcoldoy form Kokshaal-Too range. These ranges are situated in Central Tien-Shan between Issyk-Kul Lake and Takla-Makan desert. Kokshaal-Too range is bordered with Uzengegush and Mjudjurjum river valleys from the north; from the west and east with the same rivers that breaks through the main Kokshaal-Too range; from the south is bordered with Kokshaal river valley. This river system refers to Tarim river basin.
There are plenty of peaks that altitude is about 6000 m. The most interesting between them are Kyzyl-Asker peak (5842 m), Kryl'ja Sovetov peak (5800 m), Shmidta peak (5954 m), Dankova peak (5982 m), Chon-Turasu or Joldash peak (5729 m), Alpinist peak (5641 m), Sergeya Koroljova peak (5816 m). For this region is typical combination of alpine forms (plenty of vertical walls with altitude drop about 1,5-2 km) with huge glaciations that in Tien-Shan yields only to glaciations of Pobeda Peak region. All regions including lower part are zone of permafrost. Valleys around rivers are waterlogged.
Snow line is at about 4000-4500 m above sea level. River valleys have quiet big true altitude (about 3000-3500 m).
Climate is quiet inclement. Summer average monthly temperature is about 5-80C, weather is very unstable.
This region rarely visited by people especially by mountaineers. All expeditions to this region of unforgettable peaks and landscapes we can easily count. This is still "blank spot on the map" and it is good opportunity for you to climb to find absolutely new routes and peaks for yourself.
