Upon entering Kyrgyzstan, every person should hold a valid passport and entry visa. Visa can be received at embassies of the Kyrgyz Republic (if there are no embassies or representations of the Kyrgyz Republic in your country, visa may be received in Russian or Kazakhstan embassies or at the Consular department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bishkek airport upon arrival).Note:

A simple entry stamp is enough. As with most of the former Soviet Union, border areas (especially with China) are sensitive and may require special permits, without which you may be fined. Ask the local OVIR or Interior Ministry (UVD) about this.
Also, passport holders of most western countries are not required to obtain Letters of Invitation for Kyrgyzstan visa, though citizens of many other countries are (see lists below).
